It's Howdy Doody Time! I saw this cookie jar in a shop and do not know if it's new or vintage but it reminds me of early black and white television in the USA. Howdy Doody was a popular children's program and it was telecast live so anything could happen. It was hosted by Buffalo Bob and had a clown called Clarabelle. They were real but most of the other characters were puppets.
Besides Howdy, there was grouchy Mr. Bluster and Princess Winterspring Summerfall, and more. Click here for a link to more information.
Here's a link to a Youtube video with the theme song. Click Here!
Please comment and add any other memories of this program if you can.

Very cute shot! I also remember this show.

I love this cookie jar. It is either a relatively recent reproduction or an amazingly expensive antique (for the great condition). Either way, I'd take it home in a heartbeat.

Hiya! its good to be back-- hope you had a good easter! I enjoyed the nostalgia of the link- the theme song is the same a "Tarara Boomdeay" isn't it?

Cezar & Leia, I hope you also have a wonderful Sunday.. I always enjoy reading your comments.
B Squared, awww, it's not that bad.. there are worse things than being old. :=]
Lois, I watched it a lot but that was back when there weren't a lot of shows or channels on televsion.
SparkleMirror* Kiln-Fired Art Studio , thanks for the comments.. I like your blog, too. I should go back and check to see if it's old and how much it is although I really do not need a cookie jar. It is cute, though.
Delphine, good to have you back and yes, I think it is the same melody or at least very similar.
