This mural is painted on the side of the old power plant. It pictures a paddle wheel boat like the ones that used to travel on our Lake Toho many years ago. The power plant is empty and the city cannot seem to decide what to do with it. There was talk a few years ago of opening a brewery/restaurant but that hasn't happened and there hasn't been any new ideas publicized lately. It's a nice old brick building that should be preserved.

... and what happened to the boats?

It is a beautiful building and it's too bad that being Florida it will probably be torn down and replaced with ticky-tack.

Peter,
They built roads and used trucks to carry things to the area and the boats just weren't used anymore. Sad isn't it. They look like an enjoyable way to travel.

Jacob,
Yes but I hope not. I need to go see what the lastest plans are for the renovation of the lakefront. I'm not sure if this building is included in the plans.
